Roland Expansion Board Overview The SR-JV80-04 Vintage Synth expansion board is the definitive collection of vintage synth sounds. This massive library includes synthesizer sounds from the Minimoog, Oberheim 2-Voice, Sequential Prophet 5, as well as most of the classic Roland synths. At some point the JD was in storage, and at some point before that it was restored to factory defaults. The vintage board has 255 patches (4 banks) for the JD-990 resident on the board. ![]() I can figure out how to load a single patch into temp memory, but not how to load entire banks of patches into the JD's internal user memory. I have been through the JD-990 manual which is a real Roland 'classic' straight translation of japanese into English. Nothing except single patch to temp memory. Expansion board manual offers no clue either, other than to taunt me with this list of 255 patches. With names like 'Thong Shimmer'!!!!! I do recall being able to load banks of patches directly from the expansion board. On the other hand I may be confusing it with the JV-880. Have scoured the net, and the Roland site, can't find anything. If you can go back in time and help I would appreciate it. This thing still sounds pretty great) Posts: 3212 Joined: Mon Jan 03, 2005 11:01 pm Location: Iowa Primary DAW OS: MacOS. Well out of luck apparently. From a search over at the Yahoo JD-990 group, for posterity: Re: [Roland_JD-990] Re: Used JD990 Sat Jul 22, 2006 9:16 pm > Can anyone please provide more details on the steps needed to dump > expansion patches into internal memory Getting patches from an expansion card to internal memory has to be done one patch at a time. It's tedious but there's no other way, initially.
